After the formation of the state, there should be assembly or Lok Sabha elections in Uttarakhand. Voting in any election has not crossed 70 percent. If we look at the data of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the voting percentage in Uttarakhand was 5.90 percent less than the national average. Whereas an increase was recorded in the voting percentage as compared to the 2014 elections.

The Election Commission’s focus is on 100 percent voter participation in the biggest festival of democracy. Voter awareness campaigns are also being run for this. But the history of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held after the formation of Uttarakhand state has been that 70 percent voting has not taken place in any election.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a total of 61.50 percent voting took place on five seats in the state. Which is 5.90 percent less than the national voting percentage. There was 67.40 percent voting at the national level. At the same time, a total of 65.37 percent voting took place in the 2022 assembly elections. Which is less than 65.56 percent in the 2017 elections. To increase the voting percentage, the Election Commission is running awareness programs across the state to encourage voters to exercise their franchise.
